Fix District 5 before we fix I-5

Our property tax dollars should go to improvements to the infrastructure in District 5 before we commit local funding to improvements to Interstate 5. Better yet, let the funding for I-5 come from Sacramento and Washington D.C. Let's spend our local tax dollar on Gas Point Road in Cottonwood and Ponderosa Way in Shingletown to provide bike lanes and safe access to our schools.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs

  1. The cure for Shasta County problems is jobs. Government restrictions are choking the private sector. From entry level service jobs, to manufacturing, construction, and timber production, the regulations & restrictions stymie job creation and growth.
  2. More jobs equate to more than just tax dollars into the county coffers. More jobs means less crime, less domestic violence, less drug abuse, fewer mental health issues, fewer housing & homeless issues, more donations to worthy causes, a better quality of life for everyone.
  3. Government needs to help, not hinder, the expansion of existing business and the development of new business.

Public Safety

  1. We must fund and staff the Sheriff Department to a level that will keep Deputies throughout the county on streets, rivers, and the lake.
  2. We must keep the jail open. Stop the “revolving door” that allows criminals back on the street in a matter of hours.
  3. We must support our volunteer fire departments. Volunteer firefighters are the first on the scene in emergency situations.
  4. We must keep our National Forest roads open to the public for all users.

 Property Rights & Property Values

  1. I will fight to protect private property from eminent domain.
  2. I will always protect private water supplies (wells & springs) which are currently under siege by out-of-the-area water users. Government agencies want to restrict and eliminate septic systems. Not on my watch.
  3. Let’s Fix District 5 roads before we fix Interstate 5. The Interstate is a state and federal issue. We need to reduce localized congestion and provide safe routes to schools. Maintaining and improving infrastructure will help stabilize property values.
  4. Property owners should be able to use and enjoy their property, without overbearing government controls, regardless if it is a home, a ranch, a forest, or a commercial use.
